Privacy Policy

In short: we collect what we need to register you for our events and to process your payment or contribution. We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other websites.
Who we are
This website is operated by The Jack DeVito Foundation, Inc. ("the Foundation", "we", "us"), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Yorktown Heights, New York. This policy explains what personal information we collect through jackdevitofoundation.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. Our contact details are at the end of this page.
Information you give us
When you register for an event, sponsor, or make a contribution, we ask for:
- Contact details: your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
- Registration details: the number of golfers and reception guests, any sponsorship you choose, the wording for a sponsor sign, and the amount of any contribution.
- Information about other guests: the names, and optionally the email addresses, of golfers in your group or playing under your sponsorship. Please share these only if those people are comfortable with it.
- Notes you choose to add, such as dietary needs or pairing requests. Please share only what we need to accommodate you.
Payment information. Card payments are processed by Stripe. You enter your card number directly into Stripe's secure payment form, so it never reaches our servers and we never see it. Stripe tells us the amount paid, the email address used, and whether the payment succeeded. If you pay by check, we record the amount due and when your check arrives.
Information collected automatically
- Hosting and security. Our website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web server, it processes your IP address and basic browser information to deliver pages and to protect the site from attacks and abuse.
- Bot check. Before a registration is submitted, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person and not an automated program. It uses your IP address and signals from your browser to do this.
- Payment fraud prevention. Stripe's payment script loads on the registration page and sets cookies that help detect fraudulent payments. Our Cookie Policy lists them.
- Site statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and page views in aggregate. It does not use cookies, and it does not build a profile of you or follow you to other sites.
- Fonts. Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when it downloads them.
How we use your information
- To process your registration, sponsorship, or contribution, and to take payment.
- To send your confirmation and receipt, and to contact you about your registration or the event.
- To run the event, including check-in, golfer pairings, sponsor signs, and meal planning.
- To keep the financial, tax, and donor records the law requires of a charity.
- To protect the website and our payment process from fraud and abuse.
We do not currently send marketing or newsletter emails. If we start, we will ask for your permission first, and every message will include a way to unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers that run parts of this site for us: Cloudflare for hosting, security, and short-term storage of registrations (Cloudflare privacy policy); Stripe for card payments (Stripe privacy policy); Resend for sending confirmation emails (Resend privacy policy); and Google for the spreadsheet where we keep registration records and for web fonts (Google privacy policy). They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
- Event partners, such as the golf venue, only as needed to run the event. For example, we may share player names for pairings.
- Authorities or others when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Foundation, our guests, or others.
Sponsor sign wording is displayed publicly at the event exactly as you provide it.
How long we keep it
- When you pay by card, a temporary copy of your registration is stored with Cloudflare while the payment completes. It is deleted as soon as your confirmation is sent, and automatically after seven days at most.
- We keep registration records, confirmation emails, and payment records for as long as we need them to run our events and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements.
- Stripe keeps its own payment records under its privacy policy.
How we protect it
This site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe, which is certified to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Access to registration records is limited to the people who organize our events. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, but we work to protect yours. If a security incident affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you,
- correct information that is wrong, or
- delete your information, unless we must keep it for legal, tax, or accounting reasons.
Email or call us using the details below and we will respond promptly. Some state laws give residents specific privacy rights. We honor the requests above for everyone, wherever you live.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We don't track visitors across websites, sell personal information, or use targeted advertising, so there is nothing for these browser signals to turn off.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Where information is processed
The Foundation is based in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States and in other countries.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
